Marquise Brown (shoulder) activated off injured reserve, to make Chiefs debut vs. Texans Dec 20, 2024
It’s officially showtime for the Chiefs.
Kansas City has activated receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown from injured reserve ahead of Saturday’s game against the Houston Texans, the team announced Friday.
Brown joined Kansas City in free agency in the offseason as part of an effort to revamp the Chiefs’ undermanned receiving corps in 2024, but a clavicle injury suffered on the first play of the preseason threw his season into uncertainty. Brown attempted to return, but eventually it became clear he’d need much more time, landing him on injured reserve for the majority of the season.
Brown’s return comes at an important time, especially after the Chiefs lost Rashee Rice to a knee injury earlier in the campaign. He’ll slot into an offense that has been vertically challenged throughout 2024, and could give the Chiefs an explosive weapon they’ve lacked outside of inconsistent rookie Xavier Worthy.
At 13-1, the Chiefs are in a good spot, even with their offensive struggles. They’ll hope Brown helps open up their air attack as they attempt to hang onto their lead atop the AFC.
