Kevin O’Connell said Thursday when asked if Jones would be the QB2 in the postseason.

For the last 18 weeks, Mullens, not Jones, has served as the undisputed QB2.

The non-answer from O’Connell is interesting — and evidence that Jones could trot onto the field if Sam Darnold got hurt. The young skipper could’ve easily said, “Come on, people. Mullens is our QB2, and you know that.”

But he didn’t.

It’s a mystery that probably won’t matter. It’s also worth wondering how long O’Connell would stick with Darnold if he began his incompletion streak again. You know, like the world saw at Ford Field.
