San Diego, CA San DiegoMonster Energy AMA Supercross Championship
Not a good night for the AEO Powersports KTM squad, which saw both Talon Hawkins and Avery Long suffer brutal crashes at the San Diego round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross. Long’s crash seemed to be the scariest as his big get off in the Last Chance Qualifier resulted in a red flag and a long delay as he was attended to by the Alpinestars Medics.
Our Aaron Hansel has now received an update from the AEO team. Long has emerged relatively okay, the team says he has already been released from the hospital and is mostly just beat up and sore. He did take a big hit to the head, though, so the pro rookie might sit out this upcoming weekend at Anaheim 2.
Hawkins got the worst of it, as the California native suffered a broken femur. He is going in for surgery today (Sunday).
Here’s a get well soon to both young riders.
