Bronny James Scores 12, Excites NBA Fans in 1st Half of G League Lakers vs. Suns

Bronny James put the South Bay Lakers on his back in Friday night’s action.

The 19-year-old led all scorers with 28 points while adding six rebounds, two assists and a steal in the Lakers’ 122-104 victory over the Valley Suns. He finished 12-of-23 on shooting and 3-of-9 from three-point range in the 28 point effort and logged 32 minutes.

James caught fire in the first quarter of the South Bay Lakers’ G League home game against the Valley Suns on Friday evening, scoring 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers.

James, a two-way player who makes appearances for the NBA’s Lakers and their G-League squad, was active in the early going. He hit a stepback jumper on the baseline before nailing a three-pointer from the elbow to give the Lakers an early 10-3 lead.

James later hit a stepback three with 3:09 left in the first quarter before making a tough floater while getting fouled to finish the frame with 10 points.

He cooled off a bit in the second quarter but hit another floater with three minutes left. For the half, James finished with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal.

He picked up the scoring pace in the second half, scoring 14 points in the third quarter before being subbed out after helping the Lakers jump out to a 40-point lead. He would enter once again in the fourth and add two more points on a highlight dunk before his night officially came to an end.

Fans took to social media to celebrate the effort and the continued improvement from the 2024 second-round pick.

James has fared quite well during the G League regular season, averaging 22.6 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 4.2 APG and 2.0 SPG. Friday was another example of the rookie showcasing his talents as he authored another impressive game.
