Not The Prison Poses! Social Media Is Acting UP Over Alleged New Photos Of R. Kelly Behind Bars

Chile! R. Kelly seems to have some model prisoner energy going on! Newly surfaced photos on social media allegedly show the disgraced singer flexing his posing skills while behind bars. Well, the images haven’t taken long to make their way across social platforms! While supporters question the authenticity of the photos, keep reading to see how folks online are cuttin’ UP with reactions.

R. Kelly: That’s Really You? 

As mentioned, one concern amid all the reactions is whether the images are actually of Kelly. Some have pointed to the possibility that the photos may be AI-generated. At this time, none of the singer’s reps have disputed the flicks in any statements. On X (formally Twitter), the photos are trending. Still, the platform has added a disclaimer: “These photos, which feature settings that do not strictly align with typical prison environments, have sparked discussions online. However, the authenticity and context of these images have not been officially verified.” 

The Shade Room has also been unable to trace which account the images first appeared on, given their rapid spread. For now, let’s get into the actual visuals. There are at least three going around right now that have been edited into a collage. They show R. posing against a fake brick building background.

One photo shows Kelly standing, looking directly at the camera with his hands clasped in front of his stomach. He’s wearing a long-sleeve white tee underneath a green short-sleeve shirt and similar-material pants of a different shade paired with white sneakers. He also appears to be wearing sunglasses of some sort. A second photo shows him stooping down, again posing with his hands in front of him. Meanwhile, the third photo shows him standing, with one leg propped and one finger pointing at the camera.

The alleged photos of Kelly come after he took a legal blow earlier this month.  According to the Associated Press, earlier this month, the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled to uphold the singer’s 30-year sentence and racketeering and sex trafficking convictions. The ruling is based on arguments presented by Kelly’s defense and prosecutors last March. Jennifer Bonjean, the singer’s lawyer, revealed plans to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Sexual abuse allegations have been following Kelly since the 1990s, but he didn’t end up in front of a judge over them until the late 2000s. In 2008, a Chicago court acquitted of charges related to child sexual abuse images. More than 10 years later, in 2022, a second trial in his hometown ended with his conviction for producing child sexual images and enticing minors for sex.
