Saints awarded seventh-round comp pick after recalculation

The New Orleans Saints have been awarded the No. 254 pick in the NFL Draft after the NFL Management Council recalculated this year’s compensatory picks. The Saints were expected to get one when they were announced earlier this week, but they were left off the original list.

Nothing can ever be plain and simple for the Saints, can it?

The Dolphins got the original comp pick, but after corrections, pick 254 goes to the Saints. The pick was originally No. 256, but with the Saints getting it and moving up to 254, the Browns and Chargers now move back one pick each.

The Saints were awarded the pick for losing Issac Yiadom in free agency last year. Ironically, he returned to the team just a couple day ago on a three-year deal after spending 2024 in San Fransico.

The No. 254 pick hasn’t produced much talent in the past with the most notable guys in the last decade being Pittsburgh punter, Pressley Harvin III in 2021 and Bears DB Elijah Hicks in 2022.

In all likelihood, the pick will be used in a trade package. Saints GM Mickey Loomis has shown in the past that he likes to move up in the draft, especially in the mid rounds, so there’s a good chance the Saints may never even make this pick.
