How to make a LEGO Fortnite base

Michelle Cornelia

Your base is where you’ll spend a lot of time resting, so make sure that it’s safe and comfortable. Here’s how to make a LEGO Fortnite base.

Regardless of how badly you want to explore LEGO Fortnite’s blocky world, you’ll need a place where you can sleep, cook, and store your materials, all while keeping yourself warm and comfortable. Your surroundings won’t be so friendly to you, especially at night, so it’s best that you build a base that you can also call home in this game mode.

Of course, when you’re just starting, you wouldn’t have a lot of building options unlocked yet, but this doesn’t mean you can’t build an adequate base. You can always start by building the basic things and then renovate your base once you discover new building and wall recipes along the way.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to make a LEGO Fortnite base for beginners and all the materials you need for it.

What You Need to Make a LEGO Fortnite Base

Before you start building, let’s make sure you have all the materials needed to build a base. For a starting base, generally, you’ll need lots of wood. Like, actually lots of them.

So, pick up your pickaxe and try to chop as many trees as you can find. This is just so you won’t have to go back to gathering wood once you start building as it can feel a bit inconvenient. For now, these are all the things you’ll need to make a base:

  • Campfire
  • Simple Shack
  • Bed
  • Crafting Bench
  • Chest
  • Village Hub
  • Simple Shack for a villager (optional)
  • Bed for a villager (optional)

Just remember that these are some of the basic things you can build. As you progress throughout the game, you’ll unlock nicer houses that’ll require rarer items to build. Additionally, you’ll be able to invite more villagers upon upgrading your Village Hub, making your base even stronger and cooler.

How to Create a LEGO Fortnite Base

The first thing you’ll want to do before building a base is decide a location for it. This ultimately comes down to your preference. The game does a fantastic job at making the surroundings look beautiful and it honestly can be hard to find a good spot, so just take your time looking around.

With that in mind, anywhere in the grasslands should be good as it’s the safest biome compared to the others. Once you’ve found a nice spot on the map, you’re ready to build your base in LEGO Fortnite.

  1. First, make sure to find a flat spot on the ground. This will be used for your base’s foundation.
  2. In Build Mode, select the Simple Shack (or any kind of house type) and place it on the ground.
  3. From here, you’ll need to manually attach the LEGO blocks that make up your walls, floors, and roof.
  4. Once your house is complete, build a bed inside and assign it to yourself.
  5. If you want to, add a Chest at the end of your bed or anywhere in the room.
  6. Next, place a Campfire outside your house to keep you warm at night. You can also place the Crafting Bench outside if your house has no more space left.
  7. Place a Village Hub near the campfire. This is where you’ll spend a lot of time checking for your next village upgrade.
  8. At this point, your ‘base’ is pretty much done. However, if you still have some leftover materials, it wouldn’t hurt to repeat some of the steps above to build another shack nearby for your villager.
  9. If you see a villager you like, feel free to build a bed in the other shack and assign it to them.

That’s pretty much all you need to know when it comes to making a LEGO Fortnite base. Just make sure to stock up on lots of wood, as this material is crucial for a lot of starting items in the game before you start building.

Also, feel free to change your builds at any time. You’ll get all your resources back when you destroy something, so it’s not a big deal to start over.
