Baba Siddique Murder: Attackers intended to use chilli spray before unexpected gunfire

The Mumbai police are investigating the details surrounding the murder of Baba Siddique, who was shot dead on Saturday evening in Bandra East as he left for home. Reports indicate that the attack was meticulously planned by the accused, with the intention of first using a chilli spray before shooting Siddique.

However, the third assailant, identified as Shiv Kumar Gautam, opened fire prematurely, before the chilli spray attack, Mumbai police said.

At the time of the attack, Siddique was under police protection, with a deployment of three constables in a 2+1 rotation format—two constables present while one remained in rotation.

Despite the protective presence, one constable was on duty at the scene during the assault but was unable to intervene effectively.

The court has remanded Gurmail Singh, one of the accused from Haryana, to police custody until October 21. Meanwhile, the police are set to produce another suspect, Dharmraj Kashyap, who hails from Uttar Pradesh and claims to be a minor, after conducting an ossification test to verify his age.
