Contractors shortlisted for £37bn NHS hospital framework

A total of 16 firms have been shortlisted for work on the government’s New Hospital Programme (NHP).
NHS England announced that the contractors will compete for places on a £37bn framework to deliver hospital schemes across England between 2025 and 2040.
The framework will be used by NHS trusts to appoint ‘Alliance Partners’ responsible for the design, construction and handover of individual hospital projects.
Firms have received an invitation to participate in dialogue, with discussions scheduled to conclude in autumn, NHS England said in a statement today (18 June).
Appointments to the 12-year framework are expected to be confirmed before the end of 2025.
According to NHP executive commercial director Rick Lennard, trusts will be allowed to appoint partners through a collaborative process, supported by a framework agreement that sets out shared delivery principles and social value expectations.
“Looking ahead, we’re encouraging suppliers of all sizes to start preparing now,” he said.
“Thousands of contract opportunities will be created across the UK. This is a nationally important programme, and we welcome innovative partners who can help us deliver it.”
In January, health secretary Wes Streeting said 16 hospital schemes would start construction between 2025 and 2030, including seven where problems with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) were identified.
