Eminem dropped his new album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) on Friday (July 12), and it’s surely headed for a huge debut in a little less than a week. Before the project arrived in full, the rapper shared two singles from the set, with “Tobey” coming out shortly before the lengthy studio effort.

“Tobey,” Eminem’s collaboration with Big Sean and BabyTron, debuts on several Billboard charts this week. The tune manages a pretty impressive start, considering when it was released.

Eminem dropped “Tobey” on July 2. That date fell on a Tuesday this year, which is in the middle of the tracking week. Most albums and songs from major musicians arrive on Fridays, as that gives the new releases a full seven days in which to rack up streams and sales, which helps them earn notable debuts on the charts.

The hip-hop powerhouse handicapped his own single by sharing it publicly on a Tuesday. While the tune might only have had three days in which to be consumed, his popularity, as well as excitement around the upcoming album, assisted “Tobey” in becoming a hit nonetheless.

“Tobey” debuts inside the top 10 on a pair of Billboard charts this week. The single starts at No. 4 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales list. It nearly matches that showing on the Rap Digital Song Sales ranking, where it launches at No. 5.

The tune arrives with 2,800 sales, according to Luminate. That sum will surely increase considerably in a few days, at which point it will have had a complete seven-day tracking week for fans to purchase and stream the new single.

As it debuts within the top 10 on two rankings, “Tobey” also hits several other Billboard charts. It’s new at No. 23 on the Hot Rap Songs list and No. 26 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally. The tune also manages to reach a handful of non-genre-specific rosters, such as the Digital Song Sales chart (No. 25) and Hot 100 (No. 95).
