Maharashtra CM Oath Ceremony Live: Devendra Fadnavis takes oath as CM

Special arrangements have been made to accommodate 40,000 BJP supporters and a separate seating arrangement made for 2,000 VVIPs, including leaders from various religions.
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took oath as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister for the third time, on Thursday, December 5, at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. NCP chief Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde also took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers.
Fadnavis sought blessings from his mother ahead of his swearing-in ceremony. Fadnavis, 54, emerged as the top choice following the BJP’s recent electoral success, securing 132 seats in the 288-member assembly. The BJP-led Mahayuti coalition, in alliance with Shiv Sena and NCP, now holds a commanding majority with 230 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, UP CM Yogi Adityanath and CMs & Deputy CMs of NDA-ruled states, Union Ministers, NDA leaders were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
Prominent guests including RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani and family, as well as Bollywood actors Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Sanjay Dutt were also present at the venue.
Special seating arrangements have been made for 40,000 BJP supporters and 2,000 VVIPs, including religious leaders. Security has been tightened with the deployment of over 4,000 police personnel and 520 officers.
BJP leader Prasad Lad described the event as a “grand affair,” anticipating a turnout of 42,000 attendees.
