Aamir Khan has returned to the screen after three years, and his latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, is already making a splash at the box office. After a stellar performance over the weekend, the film faced the crucial Monday (June 23) test at the box office. On Monday, Sitaare Zameen Par witnessed a considerable drop in its earnings but maintained a decent pace.

According to Sacnilk, the film minted ₹8.50 crore on Monday, bringing the total up to ₹66.65 crore at the domestic box office. It also surpassed the India haul of Aamir’s last release, Laal Singh Chadha, which collected ₹61.36 crore.

Directed by RS Prasanna, the sports comedy-drama film made an earning of ₹10.70 crore on its opening day but saw a remarkable growth in its box office numbers on Saturday and Sunday. Sitaare Zameen Par

earned ₹20.20 crore on Saturday and approximately ₹27.25 crore on Sunday.

As per Sacnilk

, Sitaare Zameen Par recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 19.15% on Monday. The night shows recorded the highest number of occupancy at 27.42%, followed by 23.20% for the evening screenings and 17.24% for the afternoon shows. The film registered the lowest occupancy for the morning shows on Monday at 8.73%.

The film topped ₹100 crore worldwide gross collection on Monday, becoming the 8th Bollywood movie of the year to achieve the feat, Sacnilk reported. As per the reports, Sitaare Zameen Par has grossed over ₹80 crore in India, and an estimated 30 crore overseas, for a total of around ₹110 crore in four days.

Written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, Sitaare Zameen Par is the spiritual sequel to the 2007 release Taare Zameen Par. In addition to Aamir Khan, it also stars Genelia Deshmukh, Brijendra Kala, and Dolly Ahluwalia.

The film follows the journey of a basketball coach, Gulshan, portrayed by Aamir, who mentors ten differently-abled individuals for a basketball tournament.
