AU Deals: All-Timer JRPGs For Way Less Gil, New Lows For LEGO Skywalker and Prince of Persia, Plus More!

Grind levels up, not bank balances down.

Welcome back to a slightly surreal Thursday of bargains. Do you know what I say in strange times? Video games—entertainment via escapism, and that’s exactly what I have for you here today. I’d start by looking to some top-tier AAA JRPGs on Switch first, then grab a bunch of PS5 Pro Enhanced games cheap (for future wow-factor investment). But hey—you do you.

In retro news, I’m Tekken the time to celebrate the illustrious 29th of a 3D fighter king—a long-in-the-jaguar-tooth progenitor of a 58M copies sold series that still endures. Though I was a staunch Virtua Fighter / Saturn man at the time, I remember coveting my mate’s copy of this more approachable and well-presented competitor. The concept of controlling each limb with a dedicated face button made much more sense for muscle memorising combos, and the lure of unlocking a bunch of sub-bosses was addictive enough to make us actually go buy a Memory Card. (Or just leave that PS One on all week.)

Nice Savings for Nintendo Switch

Prince Of Persia TLC

Prince Of Persia TLC

A new low for, quite honestly, a damn fine game. TLC captures not only what made games such as The Sands of Time so good, but it irons out a lot of the little issues that plagued the 3D games in this series by opting for a 2D perspective – and owning it.

Exciting Bargains for Xbox

RoboCop: Rogue City

RoboCop: Rogue City

I’d buy this for a dolla–yeah, ok, it’s been done. RRC is a pitch-perfect throwback to the action movies of the ’80s. It’s over-the-top violence with charm, largely well put together but rough on the edges. It’ll surprise you, I think.

Pure Scores for PlayStation

Lego Skywalker Saga

Lego Skywalker Saga

Insane value for money here. Skywalker Saga provides some rollicking reimaginings of Star Wars’ most iconic moments and seats them inside a series of interplanetary playgrounds that are dense with discovery and entertaining diversions. 8/10.

PS5 Pro Enhanced Bargain

Need a cheap Pro showcase title?

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth$114.95 / $79.95

Here’s the basic good news early: via a PS5 Pro exclusive “Versatility Mode” the enhanced visuals of Rebirth look and feel newborn fresh. This is another case of the developers transplanting out the old upscale solution for PSSR (and I believe it was very much needed). The results? A dramatic and highly obvious increase in overall sharpness, geometric/texture detail, and all while it’s barreling along at a fluid 4K 60fps (thanks to a CPU High Frequency Mode). Just a gigantic improvement that needs to be seen / felt through a DualSense to be believed.
