‘Crayon Shin-chan’ Spin-off Manga ‘Nohara Hiroshi: Hiru Meshi no Ryuugi’ Gets TV Anime in Fall 2025

The official portal website of Crayon Shin-chan (Shin Chan) announced a television anime adaptation of Youichi Tsukahara‘s Nohara Hiroshi: Hiru Meshi no Ryuugi (Style of Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch) spin-off manga on Wednesday, revealing the main cast, staff, and a key visual (pictured). The anime series will air on Fridays at 11:00 p.m. on BS Asahi beginning in October 2025.
Voice actor Toshiyuki Morikawa (Majo to Yajuu) is reprising his role as the lead character Hiroshi Nohara from the original Crayon Shin-chan anime.

Tsukahara originally serialized the gourmet comedy manga in Manga Town from December 2015 to December 2023 before switching to the franchise’s official manga website following the magazine’s discontinuance. Futabasha published the 12th volume last May, with the 13th volume going on sale on Thursday. The manga has a cumulative 800,000 copies of its volumes in circulation, including digital editions.
Yoshito Usui began the original Crayon Shin-chan manga in Manga Action in 1990. The manga was originally set to conclude in November 2009 following Usui’s death two months prior, but continued until February 2010 due to newly discovered manuscripts.
The Shin Crayon Shin-chan sequel manga by UY Studio, comprised of Usui’s assistants, began in Manga Town in August 2010 and later moved to the series’ official manga website. Futabasha published the 14th volume in August 2024.
The original Crayon Shin-chan television anime debuted in 1992. The latest movie in the franchise, Chou Karei! Shakunetsu no Kasukabe Dancers, is scheduled to open in Japan on August 8 this year.
Synopsis
This series follows Hiroshi Nohara’s ultimate lunchtime philosophy, as he carefully selects and enjoys his midday meals within the constraints of a limited budget and break time.
But it’s not just about savoring food—Hiroshi delves into cooking trivia, preparation methods, and the everyday dilemmas of a salaryman. From debating whether to treat his juniors to lunch, to finding quick meals between sales meetings, and even venting about his boss, the series is packed with relatable moments for working professionals.
