In theaters: May 1, 2026

Robert Downey Jr. shocked the socks off San Diego Comic-Con attendees when he announced his return to the MCU as the villainous Doctor Doom. “New mask, same task,” he stated. It’s inarguably the biggest reveal for Disney since the peak of Avengers: Endgame—and the solution moving forward after Kang actor Jonathan Majors was dismissed.

But how will Marvel explain that Doom looks exactly like Tony Stark? Well, they’ll have plenty of time to work that out. This next Avengers outing isn’t expected until 2026.

Information about this next Avengers flick has been a pretty big secret—hence the title—but Secret Wars is set to be released one year after Doomsday. If the plot follows the comics in any way, the Avengers should be putting the multiverse drama to rest when the cataclysmic film hits theaters in 2027.

Blade

Hype is huge for the return of Blade the vampire hunter, played by Mahershala Ali. Made famous in a trilogy of movies featuring Wesley Snipes pre-MCU, the half-vampire, full-time killer helped pave the way for the superhero-film resurgence in the late 2000s.

Blade already made an audio-only cameo in the end-credits scene of Eternals when he spoke to Dane Whitman (Kit Harington), who will become the Black Knight, but it’s unknown just how either character will fit into the next phase of the MCU. Currently, production on the new film is delayed.

Way back in Infinity War, Thanos decimated the home of the Nova Corps in search of the infinity stones, presumably killing everyone on the planet last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Nova, the aptly titled intergalactic hero and last survivor of his home planet, is reportedly getting a script penned by Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada, but it’s unclear if it will be in the form of a Disney+ series or a theatrical release.

Tom Holland’s return as Spidey is currently in the works. “Next summer, we start shooting,” Holland told Jimmy Fallon. “Everything’s good to go—we’re nearly there.” Not much is known about the movie’s plot, but I’m sure the Spider-Man star will let something slip in the months to come!
