Although Halle Bailey and DDG safely delivered their baby boy right before the new year, critics still have much to say about The Little Mermaid star keeping her pregnancy under wraps. While some supporters have expressed their happiness and respect for the couple’s privacy, others have voiced that they felt deceived by the singer and do not wish to “be in the conversation” now.
While sharing precious moments from over the last nine months, Bailey admitted that she indeed did photoshop her belly bump out of her online images.
“Lmaooo do y’all remember seeing [these] pics on my insta? we photoshopped out my belly [laughing emojis],” Bailey captioned an old photo of her on Snapchat.
However some fans didn’t take her deceiving IG posts as a joke, but instead felt that she “lied” and “gaslit” her supporters who are invested in her life.
One fan commented on X, “I don’t think people are mad she hid her pregnancy. People are more so annoyed that she went out of her way to lie and gaslight about it. Then, she shaded people and called them desperate. Now, she wants those same ‘desperate’ people to know every little detail.”
In response, Bailey said, “I never lied or even said anything about it honey, making a joke about my nose was the farthest I went. I’ll never understand why you are mad I protected my own peace, wouldn’t you do the same? and I’m gonna share my pics now if I want to because my son is here safely, if u don’t wanna see it just keep scrolling baby lol God bless you ! [kiss face and heart emoji].”
Another person chimed in commenting, “Halle, baby. Kill it. You didn’t tell us bout the baby then. You didn’t speak then. Don’t speak now & leave us out the conversation. Enjoy your jit in peace. We don’t care.”
The 23-year-old actress replied, “if u don’t care why are u responding then sweetheart [heart emoji] just don’t care by living ur best life and not commenting on mine.”
Chucking up her responses to post-pregnancy hormones, Bailey ended her back-and-forth with, “lol my hormones have been on 10 recently so i’m gonna go back to staying off twitter. love you all.”
A week after announcing her baby boy Halo to the world, Halle posted an IG reel showing her ethereal maternity shoot, reminiscent of her leading Disney movie role.
“Missing my belly already but i obviously had to do underwater pics,” she captioned a video of her wearing a metallic two-piece ensemble, as she effortlessly posed under water. The dreamy shoot was done by photographer, Brandon Almengo.
In another post, Halle shared a previously recorded TikTok with her sister Chlöe, where the two did a dance routine to Drake’s “Rich Baby Daddy” including her baby bump.
