An anime adaptation is officially in the works for Aki Akimoto’s Kikaijikake no Marie (Mechanical Marie), a romantic comedy manga that ran in the pages of Hakusensha’s Lala magazine from August 2020 to August 2023.
The announcement came from the author herself, who shared a two-panel manga to reveal the plans alongside an announcement straight from Lala magazine. You can see Akimoto’s announcement below.
The Kikaijikake no Marie manga has been collected in six volumes in Japan. Here’s a fun trailer that was released to promote the second volume a few years ago:
Here’s how Lala magazine’s official website describes it:
Kikaijikake no Marie Plot
Marie, a former martial artist, has a new job as the personal maid of Arthur, the heir to a large conglomerate. However, Arthur is ruthless and hates people of the highest order, so Marie has to pretend to be a robot to work for him!
If it is discovered that she is human, she will be executed immediately, but Arthur is extremely kind to inorganic objects and… unexpectedly goes into a doting route!
Doting or death? The strongest romantic comedy that will make you laugh and make your heart thumping.
Other details, including release timing and staff, have yet to be divulged, so we’ll have to wait for further information.
