Nashville-based Singer-Songwriter XOLEX Releases “Daisy Dukes”

Originally from Iowa, and now based in Nashville, non-conformist country woman XOLEX, aka Alexis Curran, unveils her latest single, “Daisy Dukes,” co-written and produced by Nashville veterans Troy Johnson (Keith Urban, Sara Evans, Montgomery Gentry) and Bonnie Baker (Reba, Hunter Hayes, Rachel Platten).

According to XOLEX “‘Daisy Dukes’ really stems from me moving to a big city and chasing my dreams, I’m known for being a gypsy and traveling so much and my parents have always told me not to forget my roots, I feel like this was my inspiration behind the track.”

XOLEX, pronounced like her sign-off, XO, Lex, grew up in the small town of Chariton, Iowa, where she began writing songs early on. Later, she and her friends were always on the lookout for something new and exciting to do.

“There wasn’t much to do so my friends and I would do the craziest stuff like floating down a dirty river or go ‘wheeling’ and ‘mudding’ which was basically just us four-wheeling and driving big trucks around in the mud on a rainy day. Looking back, it’s so funny to me,” shares XOLEX.

After high school, XOLEX attended Iowa State University. When the pandemic hit, she made the decision to elevate her songwriting. Offered a contract that she walked away from because it was a bad deal, she persevered and flourished through it all.

XOLEX says, “No matter what, my energy speaks for itself, and I hope that people can feel that and connect with me through my music, to know they’re not alone.”

Opening on drawling, gleaming guitars, “Daisy Dukes” flows into a contagious, country-rock melody topped by XOLEX’s evocative vocals, dripping with alluring twangy tones, a luscious, feline raspiness, and pulsating with delicious, vibrant potency reminiscent of powerhouse female vocalists like Miley Cyrus and Adele.

Magnetic and compelling, “Daisy Dukes” highlights the talent, swagger, and flair of XOLEX – a rising star in country music.
