Here’s What Irv Gotti’s Kids Said In Their Statement
As mentioned, Angie, Sonny, and JJ spoke out on Thursday in a joint statement on their father’s Instagram account. They shared a single photo that shows Irv Gotti as a child playing with a DJ board. In addition to confirming Gotti’s death, the icon’s kids highlighted his legacy.
Despite rumors that Irv suffered a stroke, the family did not address his cause of death. Instead, they shared that the producer was surrounded by loved ones at the time he transitioned.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Irving ‘Irv Gotti’ Lorenzo, on February 5, 2025. Surrounded by family and friends, he departed this world, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him and the countless lives he touched. Our dad was an incredible man, a true visionary who transformed the hip-hop industry and changed the game for artists and fans alike. His passion for music and dedication to his craft inspired many, and his contributions will continue to influence future generations.”
Additionally, Angie, Sonny, and JJ requested privacy as they grieve. “As we navigate this difficult time, we kindly ask for privacy while we grieve the loss of our dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend. We take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on through his music and the love he shared with all of us. Thank you for your understanding and support during this challenging time.”
It’s worth noting that back in August 2024, Irv Gotti’s rep confirmed that Gotti had suffered a small stroke six months before as a result of his diabetes. However, the rep also claimed that Gotti had fully recovered and was at home, enjoying life with his kids after diet changes.
The family has not yet announced whether a private or public memorial service will be held or when either will occur. Meanwhile, celebrities like The Game, Jamie Foxx, and Russell Simmons have already spoken out about his death.
