Pregnant Gypsy Rose Blanchard Says She’s Sad Her Mom Will Not Meet Baby Girl
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is expressing regret.
As the Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup star grows closer to welcoming her first baby with boyfriend Ken Urker, she is reflecting on her disappointment that her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard—whom Gypsy served seven years in prison for conspiring to murder in 2015—won’t get to meet her daughter.
“For me, it is heartbreaking,” Gypsy explained on the Oct. 16 episode of The Viall Files. “I do from time to time think about what could’ve been. And it makes me sad. So, I put that in the back of my mind.”
The 33-year-old admitted that some of the feelings come from questions she gets on social media.
“Everybody asks the question, ‘What are you gonna tell your daughter whenever Grandma isn’t around?’” Gypsy noted, before crediting her stepmother Kristy Blanchard for filling the role. “My response to them is that Kristy has become more of a mother to me than my own mother was. So, Kristy is going to be Grandma.”
And as Gypsy—who separated from husband Ryan Anderson in March—prepares for motherhood, she noted that her near-year out of prison has been transformative.
“I have changed a lot,” she emphasized. “I’ve had a lot of life experience packed into 10 months.”
Since her December 2023 release from prison, Gypsy has opened up about her growth, especially to critics who have spoken out against her becoming a mom.
“I just don’t know if anyone is really ready to become a mother,” Gypsy posited in her July YouTube pregnancy announcement. “I don’t know anybody that said, ‘OK, I’m ready. I’m doing this.'”

Still, Gypsy said she has what she needs to be a great mother.
“All that matters is making sure that I’m healthy, the baby is healthy, my relationship with Ken is healthy,” she said in the video. “We are moving forward in a positive way.”
