At 51, Sofia Vergara (obviously) looks incredible. But staying true to what she told Glamour in November, she swears it’s really not because she’s gotten plastic surgery like trolls online seem to think.

“Sometimes I read messages—I avoid reading comments because, for what? It’s usually people that are in a bad mood or depressed or jealous,” Vergara said. “I read it and it’s like, ‘She has done so much stuff to herself that she doesn’t even look like her anymore.’ And I’m thinking, It’s not like you have plastic surgery to look worse than before, come on!”

As for why her appearance had seemingly changed? “I always want to say, ‘No, it’s called aging! It’s called fucking I’m old! That’s why I look different!’” Noted.

Clearly, Vergara wants us to know that she hasn’t gone under the knife. However, that’s not to say that she’s definitely against doing it someday down the line.

“I feel like I’m going to do every plastic surgery that I can do when I’m ready,” Vergara said in a May 28 interview with Allure. “I wish I had more downtime; I would’ve done stuff already. [But] because I’m in front of the camera, it’s not like I can do something and then sit in my house recuperating for weeks.”

The aforementioned downtime is actually why she prefers tweakments, as she previously told Glamour. “I don’t have downtime; I wish I had downtime from work,” she said as to why she prefers doing “little things here and there.”

“I do microneedling, little lasers for capillaries because I have rosacea. I do Botox in my eyes and in my neck regularly,” she shared. “Little things that I don’t need to sit in my house for a month because, unfortunately, I can’t.”

As for her thoughts on other cosmetic injections? “I don’t believe in filler,” she told Allure. At least not at her age: “I feel filler does good when you’re really young and you want a little bit more cheeks or to plump your lips a little bit. At my age—51—I feel it’s not going to make you look younger,” she explained.

“[Filler] is going to make you look more done. And I feel like it actually doesn’t pull you up; it kind of weighs [you down],” Vergara continues. So I am against that, once you hit a certain age.”

Speaking of aging, she got pretty vulnerable about how she’s feeling about the passing of chronological time. “You can see the age,” she said. “I shouldn’t complain because I’m 51 and I’m still healthy, and I’m very active. I still look in the mirror and I see someone beautiful. But sometimes it’s like, ‘Who are you?’ I’m still happy with what it is. I just learn to accept it’s not me. It’s a new me.”

And let’s be real: “New” her or not, Vergara looks pretty damn good—incredible, even—and I know I’m listening to whatever beauty advice she’ll dish out. As for how she’s done it? “I always wash my face after going to bed. I try to avoid the sun on my face no matter what,” she said.

Vergara is actually so passionate about sun protection she launched her own skin care line, Toty, comprised of multiple products formulated with 50+ SPF. “It’s funny, because my body’s always so much darker than my face. My face is like a ghost. It doesn’t even match my body…because I use Toty Ilumina CC Cream SPF 50+.”

And she really does think her consistent sunscreen-wearing has made a difference. “I’m 51, and I can compare myself to my friends that have never [worn sunscreen], and now they’re all like, ‘Fuck, why didn’t we pay attention to you?’” she told Allure.

Thus, it’s no surprise that when asked which piece of advice Vergara would give her younger self, she told Glamour: “Protect from the fucking sun my chest! Because I forgot!” And do so by stocking up on and slathering oneself in plenty of adequate sunscreen, of course. (The American Academy of Dermatology recommend wearing SPF 30+, but dermatologists have told Glamour that opting for SPF 50+ is really your best bet.)
