Taylor Swift Fans Think She Renamed Her Alleged Kim Kardashian Diss Track to Call Out Kanye West

The old “thanK you aIMee” can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Because Taylor Swift changed its name to “thank You aimEe.”

On August 15, Swift released a limited-edition digital version of The Tortured Poets Department featuring two live-recorded bonus tracks from the Eras Tour: A mashup of “Mean” and “ThanK you aIMee,” which she performed in London on June 22, and a mashup of “The Prophecy” and “Long Story Short,” which she performed in Lyon on June 2.

While the Tortured Poets track “thanK you aIMee” is widely believed to be a diss track about Kim Kardashian (notice how the capital letters spell out K-I-M), fans quickly noticed that the newly released version of the track only features two capitalized letters: Y and E. Of course, they quickly made the connection to Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West, who now goes by Ye.

By now, you probably know all about Taylor Swift’s tumultuous history with West, which dates all the way back to 2009 and spiraled even further out of control with the release of “Famous” in 2016. If not, please read this and come back.

Kanye West, Taylor Swift

Now that you’re all caught up, you may be wondering why Swift would make such an unsubtle dig at West right now—especially when the song was allegedly written to call out Kardashian for her hand in the “fully manufactured frame job” that damaged Swift’s mental health and allegedly inspired much of her 2017 album, Reputation.

Well, The Tortured Poets Department recently reclaimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart for its 14th non-consecutive week, not only blocking West’s newly released album Vultures 2 from the top spot, but also ending the rapper’s 11-album streak of number one releases. While some say this was Swift’s “petty” way of rubbing salt in the wound, others think it’s a clue that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is coming soon.
