Taylor Swift’s Oversized Sweater Minidress May Hold a Sentimental Hidden Meaning
Sorry, Reputation and debut album girlies, Taylor Swift’s latest look is pure 1989.
While Swifties may have missed the sartorial Tortured Poets easter eggs she was dropping for months ahead of the album’s release, it doesn’t look like she’s sending any messages about her upcoming albums or re-recordings with her latest look. Instead, it seems Swift is referencing her fifth studio album, 1989, which already received its (Taylor’s Version) update in October 2023.
On June 6, Cara Delevingne shared behind the scenes photos and videos from her recent run in London’s West End production of Cabaret. One of those photos included a snap with close friend Taylor Swift, who attended the show in between European Eras Tour performances earlier this month.
In the dressing room snap, Swift can be seen embracing Delevingne while wearing a sky blue Stella McCartney oversized pull-over sweater with a fringed hem, which currently retails for $1,690 on Bergdorf Goodman. While the photo doesn’t show off the pop star’s shoes, she does appear to be wearing the sweater styled with her long blonde hair down in loose, effortless waves, forgoing her signature red lip for a more subtle brownish-mauve shade.
Just because Taylor Swift does not appear to be signaling an upcoming project with her latest ‘fit, doesn’t mean the look doesn’t tell a story. Remember, Swift’s 1989 era was her first girl-squad moment. Back in 2014, Delevingne was one of many female actors and models featured in her “Bad Blood” music video and regularly appeared in Swift’s entourage at house parties and awards ceremonies. Delevingne even took the stage during the 1989 tour stops in Philadelphia and London, where she carried the Union Jack.
