Less than 24 hours before the start of ‘Lovers & Friends,’ organizers canceled the festival. In response to the subsequent backlash, Usher explained what happened in a social media statement.

What Did Usher & ‘Lovers & Friends’ Organizers Say?

Like the vocal ticket holders on social media, Usher Raymond also expressed his disappointment in the festival’s cancelation.

In an Instagram story on Saturday (May 4), the R&B singer wrote, “Mannn, I’m just as disappointed as you. We were getting ready to turn up and celebrate today.”

In his statement, the ‘Ruin’ singer explained that the decision to cancel was out of his hands.

“I have to follow the rules of the city and The National Weather Service for everyone’s protection and stand in my strong belief that everything happens for a reason.”

Ultimately, Usher apologized to his disappointed fans. For months, festival organizers advertised performances by Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, H.E.R., Nelly, Ludacris, and Usher himself, to name a few.

“I’m sorry that we won’t get to see each other today but know that I am always working on something to express my heartfelt gratitude for each and everyone of you who continue to support me. I’ll see you soon” Raymond wrote.

Meanwhile, the official statement from ‘Lovers & Friends’ reassured fans who purchased tickets through Front Gate Tickets that they’ll be receiving a refund within 30 days.

Organizers revealed that the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning ahead of the cancelation. Las Vegas will allegedly experience “dangerous 30-35 mph sustained winds with gusts potentially more than 60 mph.”

“Following advice from the National Weather Service and in consultation with local public officials, we must make the safest decision for our fans, artists and staff and cancel tomorrow’s ‘Lovers & Friends’ Festival,” the May 3 statement read.
