ALL GOOD THINGS must come to an end. Especially if they’re TV shows.
Eric Kripke, showrunner of The Boys, officially announced on June 11, 2024 that The Boys would be concluding with its fifth and final season. Luckily, this news comes just ahead of the premiere of the show’s fourth season, meaning that we’ve still got plenty of time left with these characters before the time comes to say goodbye.
And while we’re going to be sad to see the book eventually closed on this story, we’ve all got to look at this as a good thing. Because we’ve all had experiences with shows that we loved at one point that, for one reason or another, outstayed their welcome. With The Boys, now, we get a show that we know has a fully mapped out exit strategy. And with Season 4, that exit strategy begins.
“Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought,” Kripke said in a Tweet announcing the news. “Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”
So all we can do now is get ready to dig in and enjoy as we get ready to see how Hughie (Jack Quaid), Butcher (Karl Urban) and the rest of The Boys get ready to take on Homelander (Antony Starr) and the rest of The Supes. We may not know how it’s going to play out, but we can be certain it’s going to be a bloody, diabolical mess.
