Taylor Swift Used the Lazy Girl’s Hack for Spicing up Her Black Minidress

For her latest girls’ night out in New York City, Taylor Swift stuck to the classics—both in terms of dress code and venue. On January 23, Swift, accompanied by new bestie Brittany Mahomes and old bestie Cara Delevingne, wore a little black dress for dinner at Nobu, which is a restaurant famous enough to have generated its own hip-hop subgenre.

Swift’s flouncy frock reaches mid-thigh and has long, oversized sleeves and pleated ruffles on the skirt. The dress buttons up the front like a tunic, and Swift wore it with a gold chain belt to cinch the waist—a timeless styling hack to help jazz up a basic look. To match, she accessorized with layers of gold necklaces. Rounding out the ensemble, Swift wore chunky ankle boots and semi-sheer black tights and carried a studded black clutch.

Tay also went with a timeless beauty look, wearing her hair in a coiled chignon and her usual red lip with a pink mani.

Since this was apparently the dress code, Mahomes and Delevingne wore their own versions of LBLs (little black looks). Mahomes, taking inspiration from Cher Horowitz, wore a matching blazer and miniskirt set in a black-and-white checked pattern. She, like Swift, wore sheer black tights, with suede, spike heeled ankle boots. Delevingne, meanwhile, went in the entirely opposite direction, wearing a black velvet blazer and pants suit.

Whatever fashion era Taylor Swift happens to be in at any given moment, we can always be sure that her friends will be on the same page.
