Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney official scorecard

Ryan Garcia walked out of “Game 7” with the win.

In his grudge match — the two split a six-fight series as amateurs — against Devin Haney on Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Garcia emerged with a majority decision victory after a roller-coaster 12-round contest. Garcia scored three knockdowns in the fight and had Haney visibly rocked on multiple occasions en route to scores of 114-110 and 115-109 in his favor. The third score was a 112-112 draw.

See the official scorecard below.

Judge Max DeLuca scored the 112-112 draw, while judges Eric Marlinski (114-110) and Robin Taylor (115-109) scored the bout for Garcia.

Garcia’s knockdowns led to a pair of 10-8 scores, and a 9-8 in Round 7 after he was penalized for continuing to throw punches after the referee ordered a break.

Though Garcia can celebrate a career highlight, his win was marred somewhat by an egregious weight miss. Garcia came in 3.2 pounds over the 140-pound limit for his bout with Haney, the reigning WBC super lightweight champion. Due to the miss, Garcia was ineligible to win the title.

According to WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, Haney remains WBC champion despite the loss.

Congratulations to Ryan GarcÌa defying all obstacles and winning a huge fight. Congratulations to Devin Haney for showing his huge heart and class.
Just as in Corrales vs Castillo 2 , with the challenger not making weight, Haney remains WBC champion.

Afterward, both fighters indicated that they were open to a rematch, although Garcia made it clear that he’s never fighting below 143 pound again.
