Red Bull Kumite 2024 Announced

The 2024 instalment of the Red Bull Kumite tournament has just had its first details announced. The tournament series will be holding its newest instalment early in 2024, with a cage match going on in Brooklyn. The series is moving to New York for this outing, a big contrast from the 2023 Red Bull Kumite location.

This tournament will be focusing exclusively on Street Fighter 6. 16 different players will be taking part in the tournament. The format is pretty unique here though. They’re playing in best of 9 matches, with a single elimination bracket. Unlike most tournaments, there’s no secondary bracket to rise back up. Once a player is out, they’re out. The players chosen will be determined by past performance, with invites going out to some of the best Street Fighter 6 players.

The final few players though will be decided by an open event. There will be. Last Chance Qualifier where 256 people compete to make the roster. We already know that last year’s winner Big Bird has been invited and we can expect similarly impressive names to make up the rest of the invites. The whole event is going to take place March 16-17th. If you can’t get to the event in person though, it’ll be broadcast online by Red Bull too. This will be a great tournament to restart competitive Street Fighter after we wrap things up with the Capcom Cup X next month.
