2024 General GNCC: Josh Toth Makes History with Victory from Second Row at Enduro Race

 Conditions in Georgia were typically challenging for the General GNCC weekend. AmPro Yamaha’s racer Ricky Russell earned the holeshot in the XC1 Open Pro class battle. Steward Baylor from Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki led on lap one, followed by Johnny Girroir from FMF KTM Factory Racing taking the lead on lap two, only to be surpassed by Russell on lap three.

Girroir reclaimed the lead from Russell on lap four and maintained the physical race lead for the remaining two laps, securing his third consecutive victory in the XC1 Open Pro class.

However, the most remarkable achievement of the day came from Josh Toth, who made history by winning the XC2 250 Pro class from the second row. This was a feat never before achieved in the Grand National Cross Country series.

Despite the rainy and challenging conditions, Toth’s performance was remarkable and will be remembered as a significant achievement in the world of enduro racing for years to come.

There’s no reason I shouldn’t be battling with those guys. Yeah, just rode my own race and tried not to make big mistakes and made it happen. I want to thank the whole Enduro Engineering team for letting me do my own thing and have a blast. I’ve done a lot of hard enduro races and I think it paid off. This is not the last one.”

XC1 Class:

• Johnny Girroir of FMF KTM Factory Racing dominated the XC1 class with a flawless performance, securing three consecutive wins.
• Jordan Ashburn displayed impressive determination, clinching second overall in class.
• Steward Baylor maintained his championship challenge with a solid third-place finish in XC1.

XC2 250 Pro Class:

• Toth made history by clinching the overall win from the XC2 line, while defending champion Liam Draper secured a spot on the podium.
• Grant Davis of FMF KTM Factory Racing Lander’s showcased skill and determination, securing second in class and eighth overall.

FMF XC3 125 Pro-Am Class:

• Jhak Walker of Liqui Moly Factory Beta Racing continued his winning streak, claiming his second consecutive class win.
• Dustin Simpson and Zach Davidson put up strong performances, securing their spots on the podium.

WXC Class:

• Canadian rider Shelby Turner created history by clinching the women’s class overall victory, following in the footsteps of Brandy Richards.
• Turner’s victory marked a double triumph for the Enduro Engineering camp.
• Rachel Archer fought fiercely for the podium spots, while Korie Steede showcased commendable skill and determination.
