The Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they are reportedly open to trading the pick.
Tennessee is in need of a new quarterback, but do the Titans feel comfortable taking one of these incoming signal-callers at No. 1 overall?
Cam Ward has a unique blend of skills that make him one of the top quarterbacks in college football, and many see him as a potential future star at the next level. What sets him apart is a combination of athleticism, poise, and raw talent, and here’s why I view him as the star in the draft.
Despite his youth, Ward exhibits incredible poise in the pocket. He doesn’t rush throws and is able to read defenses well. His decision-making is what really sets him apart. Whether it’s a quick release or knowing when to take a shot downfield, he seems to always make the right call. When it comes to talent, Ward has an arm that can make every throw in the book, from deep bombs to touch passes to the sidelines. His ability to stretch the field and deliver the ball with velocity or accuracy, depending on the situation, is what makes him stand out.
I personally feel his moxie is what is going to separate him. He shows a calm demeanor when things get tense and has the ability to rally his teammates when it matters most. His leadership is one of the intangible qualities scouts and coaches love.
So I was asking around to find three players that others felt were better prospects than Cam Ward, and people were struggling to name three.
According to sports betting odds, Abdul Carter, and Travis Hunter have the closest odds to Ward. Many feel Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart are much further behind Ward.
The Heisman Trophy winner from Colorado had a remarkable season on offense for the Buffaloes, snagging 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. Compared with 2023, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound playmaker nearly doubled his production at the position and tripled his number of touchdowns.
But it will be at defensive back where the rising star is expected to showcase his skills in front of NFL coaches, general managers and player personnel chiefs around the league in Indianapolis. He had four interceptions and 35 tackles in 2024 en route to his best season yet, and lifting the Buffaloes to their best record in many years, including an appearance in the Alamo Bowl against BYU.
Abdul Carter is a disruptive pass rusher, and I would love to see him go in the top 3. As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, Carter’s name will be high on the list of defensive prospects. His dominant performance at Penn State has made him one of the most coveted players.
