Player Summary:
A multiyear starter primarily at slot receiver and returner who has been extremely productive in his college career boasting the most starts out of any skill player in school history and is in the top 10 in all receiving and all-purpose yards in school records. He is small in size with good athleticism and quick feet which allows him to compete against bigger competition.
He is used as a utility player and is often making pre-snap motions and realignments. Uses a wide array of releases along with his pre-snap movements to get off the line of scrimmage and also uses this as his way to play against strong press man coverages. Displays a solid ability to run the entire route tree off of his various releases. Has good hands with a soft touch when catching the ball. Can also adjust to most passes thrown to him. Is competitive and physical after the catch as well as able to use his shiftiness and quick cuts to gain more yards. When he is schemed to be open he is able to show his quick change in direction and short area burst to turn upfield and put his foot in the dirt to make someone miss. On top of being a highly used receiver, he serves as a core returner on both kickoffs and punts, using his speed and change in direction to be very effective in the return game where he averages over 24 yards on kick returns and little over 5 yards on punt returns.
His most glaring weaknesses are his size and strength as it will be a struggle to compete against bigger bodied corners. Due to his size, his strides are shorter and struggles to completely break free from defenders during long runs. Struggles at the top of the route to create separation. He is a poor blocker when he is blocking on the outside and is often losing the edge. Will struggle being a vertical threat or big target in the red zone due to his size.
Scheme Fit:
A slot receiver/utility player where he is schemed open and can use his best weapon as an open field runner where he is able to make a defender miss.
Power Statement:
While his size is lacking for the next level, his athleticism and creativity will prove beneficial in the slot receiver role and adds more to his arsenal as a dynamic returner on special teams.
