The #1 Oregon Ducks (13-0) face the #8 Ohio State Buckeyes (11-2) in the CFP quarterfinals. The winner moves on to the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in the CFP semifinals on January 10th. This is the “Grandaddy of Them All” and should make for another fantastic Rose Bowl, as this game has usually been the among the best of the field, compared to most of its peers. Last year’s 27-20 overtime playoff thriller being the most recent example.
I’ve always had a particular soft spot for the Rose Bowl, living just 6 miles from the picturesque venue. Few sights in sports are as consistently breathtaking as the sun setting behind the San Gabriel Mountains in the third quarter of the Rose Bowl Game. This matchup should be another classic.
