Cooper Kupp Signs 3 year $45 Million deal to the Seahawks

Longtime Rams receiver Cooper Kupp is heading home to Seattle on a 3 year $45 Million deal. After questions regarding his future in LA after another season marred by injury, the breakup between Kupp and LA is official with LA making the first move by signing Davante Adams. Seattle is hoping the Yakima Washington native and Eastern Washington Alum can replace DK Metcalf’s production as Seattle continues their retool throughout the offseason.

Cooper Kupp spent his entire 8 year career in Los Angeles recording 7776 receiving yards and 57 receiving touchdowns. Kupp also recorded his famous triple-crown season in 2021 leading the league in receptions, receiving touchdowns and receiving yards with 145 receptions, 1947 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns which was also the season he won the Superbowl and being named Superbowl MVP while leading the league in playoff receiving yards.

However, doubts remain whether Kupp can produce consistently. First of all he hasn’t played a full season in 3 years missing 8 games in 2022, 5 games in 2023 and 5 games in 2024. In those years he has failed to come close to his triple crown season or even record a 1000 yard season and his later years have seen him become more of a second option to Puka Nacua.

With Jaxon Smith Njigba breaking out in 2024, Kupp will likely not be asked to do more than what he was already doing in LA as a second option. He still has a strong run game in Seattle with Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet and fellow new Seattle arrival Sam Darnold, who aside from having a poor playoff showing against the Rams, he still had a career year across the board and threw for both more passing touchdowns and more passing yards.

Seattle will continue to make amidst a retool following their second straight season missing the playoffs and their first year under Mike Macdonald. With the NFC West continuing to be shaken up, the division remains wide open for Seattle to capitalize.
