Eagles and Steelers news ahead of Sunday’s game
Here’s some Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers roster news ahead of their Week 15 game at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles downgraded WR Johnny Wilson from no status to questionable.
Wilson missed Friday’s practice due to an “illness” designation but he was listed without a game status on the final injury report.
It’s pretty rare for players to miss a game due to being sick. Also, the Eagles didn’t make any wide receiver moves, so the guess here is that Wilson plays.
If he doesn’t, they’ll be down to just A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, and Ainias Smith. Britain Covey was ruled out for this week’s game.
The Eagles temporarily elevated FB Khari Blasingame from the practice squad.
This is the second week in a row the Eagles are elevating Blasingame. Last week, he played one offensive snap at fullback in addition to 15 special teams snaps. He’ll likely play a similar role against the Steelers.
The Eagles can only temporarily elevate Blasingame to the roster one more time in the regular season.
The Steelers activated NT Montravius Adams from injured reserve to their roster.
The Steelers were in need of some more defensive line depth, as outlined by Behind The Steel Curtain:
The timing of his return is especially pertinent, as teammate and DL starter Larry Ogunjobi has been ruled out for Week 15, dealing with a groin injury that forced him from Week 14’s win over the Cleveland Browns.
Adams was playing around 30% of defensive snaps in his six games prior to suffering a knee injury in Week 7, subsequently placed on the injured reserve list. In limited playing time, Adams had 1 sack and 8 tackles (1 TFL). We’ll see how much playing time he’ll get upon return, but if fully healthy, it seems likely he’ll see a greater workload than usual in the absence of Ogunjobi, likely rotating in the mix with Isaiahh Loudermilk and Dean Lowry (inactive last week).
The Steelers placed backup offensive tackle Calvin Anderson on IR to open up the spot for Adams.
