Eagles Injury Report: Jalen Hurts still not practicing

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their second official injury report on Thursday in advance of their Week 18 home game against the New York Giants.

The Eagles listed five players under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: Jalen Hurts, Kenny Pickett, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Saquon Barkley.

Hurts still hasn’t practiced since suffering a concussion in Week 16. I’ve seen people ask if it’s fair to be concerned about his availability for the Eagles’ Wild Card game. I think it’s still too early to say on that front. I’ll be interested to see if Hurts is able to be limited on Friday or if he might go through a pregame workout on Sunday. If he does neither of those things and he’s also not practicing next week, well, yeah, that’s obviously a big concern.

Pickett is dealing with his ribs injury. No need to play him in a meaningless game. Tanner McKee is on track to make his first NFL start and Ian Book will be his backup.

Brown, Smith, and Barkley are contenders to be inactive on Sunday as they get some rest.

The Eagles listed 14 players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Zack Baun, Mekhi Becton, Reed Blankenship, Jalen Carter, Landon Dickerson, Cooper DeJean, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Lane Johnson, Cam Jurgens, Jordan Mailata, Quinyon Mitchell, Darius Slay, Nolan Smith, and Josh Sweat.

Becton, Dickerson, Johnson, Slay, and Sweat were upgraded from DNP to limited. All the others were limited for the second day in a row. Most of these players will dress for Sunday’s game since there are only seven inactive spots … but they will not play.

The Eagles listed four players under FULL PARTICIPATION: Will Shipley, Dallas Goedert, Nakobe Dean, and Bryce Huff.

Shipley was upgraded from limited to full participation so it seems like he’s on track to play after missing Week 17 due to a concussion. Good opportunity for the rookie running back to get some extended playing time.

The guess here is the Eagles don’t activate Goedert for this weekend’s game. Still good to see he’s practicing in full and should be ready for the playoffs.

Dean likely won’t play but Huff might see playing time on Sunday.

NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT (THURSDAY)

The Giants’ Thursday injury report is largely identical to Wednesday’s version with one big exception: Malik Nabers was added as a limited participant due to a toe injury. I’ve been suspecting the Giants might want to shut him down because 1) they shouldn’t want to win this game and 2) seeing him go down with an injury that lingers into next season would be pretty terrible for them. We’ll see if that’s what’s going on here.
