Father of Former Cowboys linebacker was arrested for strangulation and domestic battery
The father of former Dallas Cowboys star Leighton Vander Esch was arrested over the weekend on charges related to domestic violence.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, Darwin Vander Esch was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including felony attempted strangulation, misdemeanor domestic battery, and misdemeanor intentional destruction of a telecommunication device.
Authorities reported receiving a call at 12:16 a.m. on Sunday regarding a domestic battery incident at a residence near Riggins, Idaho. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Leighton Vander Esch was a star linebacker for the Cowboys who was a walk-on at Boise State and eventually became Dallas’ first-round pick in the 2018 draft.
