In collaboration with Genesis, The Riviera Country Club and @TGRLiveEvents, and out of respect for the unfolding situation, we have determined that the 2025 @TheGenesisInv will be played at an alternate location the week of Feb. 10-16.
Riviera Country Club, where the event is held annually, has not been “directly affected” by the fires in the Pacific Palisades but the course is located close to some of the most “significant damage” in the region, per Herzig.
Tiger Woods will continue to host the competition, but a substitute location hasn’t been revealed yet.
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported that possible locations under consideration include La Quinta Country Club in La Quinta, the site of the American Express, and Torrey Pines in La Jolla, which is set to host the Farmers Insurance Open.
Riviera Country Club has hosted a professional men’s competition on 60 separate occasions since 1929. Hideki Matsuyama previously won the Genesis in 2024.
Woods addressed the 2025 event on Tuesday.
“We’re trying to just figure everything out and make sure that everyone is safe and we have meetings scheduled going forward,” Woods said, per Herzig. “But as of right now, we’re not really focused on the tournament. It’s more about what we can do to help everyone who’s struggling, who’s lost homes and had their lives changed.”
Wildfires in Southern California have killed at least 25 people with 31 more reported missing, via CNN. Over 170,000 people remained under evacuation notices as of Thursday. The Palisades Fire in the Pacific Palisades and Malibu regions has burned more than 22,713 acres and is 22 percent contained.
The Genesis is still expected to take place starting on Feb. 10, but the tournament will now occur at a new location.
