Chiefs’ Rashee Rice Has Arrest Warrant Issued Following Car Crash, Facing 8 Charges

The Dallas Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Rashee Rice, according to Rebecca Lopez and Paul Livengood of WFAA.com, after the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver told authorities he was the driver of a Lamborghini SUV involved in a multi-car crash in late March.

He was charged with six counts of collision involving bodily injury, one count of aggravated assault and one count of collision involving serious bodily injury.
“We continue to monitor developments in the matter,” chief NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Theodore Knox—a Teddy Knox is listed on SMU’s football roster, which is where Rice went to college—was driving a Corvette in the accident and is facing the same charges as Rice. Both the Lamborghini and Corvette were leased in Rice’s name from Classic Lifestyle. No one else is being charged in the incident.
All passengers in the Lamborghini and Corvette fled the scene. Per WFAA.com, “The police report also said marijuana was found in both cars, as well as credit cards, a $16,500 check, a diamond chain and the playbook for the Chiefs.”
Two people in the accident were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
“I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities,” Rice wrote on Instagram earlier in April. “I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted.”
Collision involving injury charges carry a maximum of five years in prison. Collision involving serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony, carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison. And aggravated assault, which is a second-degree felony, is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Regardless of how the legal process plays out, Rice could be suspended by the NFL as the league continues to monitor the situation.
Rice, 23, appeared in 16 games for the Chiefs during the regular season and all four postseason contests.
