How to Unlock the SG-8S Slugger in Helldivers 2
The SG-8S Slugger is a modified shotgun-variant of the SG-8 Punisher shotgun dealing heavy damage and heavy stagger. You can unlock it through the free “Helldivers Mobilize! Warbond battle pass.” It’s available on page 8 of the Battle Pass and requires 60 Warbond Medals to unlock.
But that’s not all, to get the option to unlock, you need to unlock Page 8 of the Battle Pass first. And that requires a whopping 390 medals on its own, bringing the total cost of this gun up to 450 Warbond medals!
So if you want to get this gun, you’re going to have to grind these Medals quite a bit. And that begs the question; is it even worth the grind?
A Quick Look at the SG-8S Slugger
The SG-8S doesn’t seem all that impressive at first glance. If anything, it looks more like a downgraded Punisher shotgun with Light Armor Penetration capabilities. But weirdly enough, the gun can pierce medium armor as well. And the stated damage value of 280 also seems misrepresented, as the gun deals way more damage than that in the game.
That being said, it’s still a slug-firing shotgun, which means its accuracy is low and recoil is high. The fire rate is pretty decent for a shotgun, but it’s still nothing to write home about.
The best thing that it has going for itself is the stagger effect. When you fire it at an enemy, there’s a mini-stun effect, which can add some utility to your overall kit.
We’re not saying this is a bad weapon like most would have you believe, but it’s still not a good enough gun to make it great for every mission. However, situationally, this weapon can bring plenty of firepower to the fight.
Should You Unlock the SG-8S Slugger in Helldiver 2
The SG-8S Slugger isn’t really the best gun in the game, but it’s still worth unlocking, in our opinion. It’s great at taking down mobs, especially the Chargers and the Stalkers. Besides, if you’re a completionist looking to unlock all the weapons in Helldivers 2, you won’t rest until you have it anyway!
