‘It Has Been a Problem for Years’ – NFL Analyst Sends Stern New Year’s Resolution to Jets After Disastrous Season

The New York Jets are having a horrid 2024 NFL season, riddled with issues both on and off the field. However, one problem continues to overshadow the franchise: leaks. Aaron Rodgers, the team’s star quarterback, has labeled leaks as a “persistent problem” that has plagued the organization for years.

Peter Schrager Advises Aaron Rodgers’ Jets To ‘Find the Rat’

The Jets have a disastrous 4-12 record and a sacked head coach. The on-field issues need fixing as soon as possible, but NFL analyst Peter Schrager has a simpler New Year’s resolution for the Jets: “Figure it out.”

Appearing on ‘Good Morning Football,’ Schrager called for the New York-based franchise to clean house when it comes to leaks, stating, “No more leaks. There should be no more media leaks out of that building. It is a problem. It has been a problem for years. Find the rat. Get ’em out. Find the mole. Get ’em out.”

Rodgers has repeatedly criticized the issue for over a year. During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” last week, the quarterback discussed how these leaks erode trust and team culture.

“It can’t be the norm that there’s so many leaks,” Rodgers said. “Obviously, what’s best for the Jets is not having these types of leaks all the time. When that gets figured out, it will be a little easier to win.”

The Jets’ problems reached a boiling point this season when reports surfaced about owner Woody Johnson allegedly suggesting benching Rodgers after Week 4.

Different drama followed when a leak hinted at quarterback Zach Wilson’s reluctance to retake the starting role in 2023.

“When you use sources to try and assassinate someone’s character like that report does for Zach I have a real hard time with that..

Despite Rodgers’ best efforts to steer the team forward, his return from a devastating Achilles injury failed to salvage the season. The Jets’ offensive woes and a porous defense left them struggling. Rodgers’ C- grade (71.3) in PFN’s QB+ metric ranks 25th, sandwiched between Kirk Cousins and Mason Rudolph.

Rodgers, now 41, faces an uncertain future but expressed gratitude for his time in New York. However, the veteran QB didn’t rule out the possibility of change. “If I feel good about coming back and they want to make another run at this, that’d be fantastic,” Rodgers admitted.

The Jets continue to navigate yet another rebuilding phase, and maybe fixing their leak problem might be a start to finally establishing a winning culture. Rodgers summed it up best: “The standard needs to be that you are not creating questions for other people all the time.”
