Bloody Elbow staff all agree on Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

Jordan Ellis: “For me, Jake Paul finishes this fight – if he wants to – whenever he wants to. Mike Tyson still looks as explosive as ever, but he’s 58-year-old and his balance is off. One clean shot and he will go down just like Evander Holyfield did during in his ill-fated comeback against Vitor Belfort in September 2021.”

PREDICITON: JAKE PAUL BY KO

Donagh Corby: “I’m not a moron, and throughout the entire build-up to Paul vs Tyson I was under no illusions that the 58-year-old who retired on the back of two stoppage defeats to journeymen 20 years ago would be able to stand up to a shot from an active 27-year-old power puncher.

“But then fight week began, footage began to emerge, I arrived in Dallas and the romance got the better of me. Jake Paul is a relatively small cruiserweight who has bulked up 40lb from his career-lightest. He was dropped by 170lb UFC champion Tyron Woodley in their first fight which wasn’t scored as a knockdown, and hasn’t taken a big clean shot since. If Mike Tyson catches him flush at any point during this fight, it will be like nothing he has ever felt before in his life. And as the minutes tick down, I believe the icon is going to do just that.”

PREDICTION: MIKE TYSON BY KO

Oscar Pick: “I believe that Jake Paul will win on points. The shorter rounds and bigger gloves should allow Tyson to navigate himself through most of the contest, smothering Paul as and when he needs to. But the exuberance of Paul should take over down the stretch, as the 58-year-old legs of Tyson begin to slow down.”

PREDICTION: JAKE PAUL BY DECISION

Curtis Calhoun: “Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson will be a firefight in the opening rounds. Tyson will come out with his patented high-pressure and pace, reminiscent of the heavyweight juggernaut we all remember. But Paul will begin to wear down Tyson in Round 3 with his jab and body shots. In Round 4, Paul will become too much for Tyson to overcome, collapsing Tyson with a right hand, winning the fight by TKO.”

PREDICITON: JAKE PAUL BY KO

Jamie Theodosi: “Ultimately, as much as I don’t want to and can’t particularly count out Tyson, I also can’t look past the 31-year age gap. I think Jake Paul will score a finish but I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes to the scorecards where he picks up the win.

PREDICITON: JAKE PAUL BY KO

James Sweetnam: “In his glorious prime, Mike Tyson was nothing short of terrifying. Blessed with phenomenal powers of athleticism, the legend would bob and weave in front of his opponents before unleashing thunderous combinations that sent anyone they landed on crashing towards the canvas. But as much as the combat sports community wants this version of ‘Iron Mike’ to walk into the ring later tonight, this isn’t the 80s, 90s, or even the noughties. Ultimately, while the icon looks good for his age, there’s no escaping the fact that he’s 58 and about to take punches from a 27-year-old. Therefore, while hardcore fans around the world can hope and dream that their hero can deliver one last moment of brilliance, it’s tough for me to predict anything other than a Jake Paul KO victory.”
