Jalen Hurts talks challenges of his first concussion
After a couple weeks in the concussion protocol, Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts has been cleared and returned to the team ahead of their first playoff game. He spoke to reporters on Friday for the first time since being sidelined, and acknowledged the challenges that came with being away recovering.
“You go through a routine everyday, and being out of that is challenging. Obviously, dealing with different symptoms ain’t fun, either.”
Hurts then admitted that he had never had a concussion before. When asked if he was scared, the QB simply said he had faith that it would be okay.
“I’m great now.”
He didn’t remember the interactions on the sideline following his concussion, and going in and out of the tent, saying it was so long ago at this point. Hurts reiterated that he’s good now though, and tried to shift the focus to the upcoming playoff game.
When asked a couple more questions about how he’s feeling physically and how it’s been getting back into the routine, Hurts elaborated a little more and then made clear there was nothing else to be said about it.
“Obviously, we’ve gone through three weeks of Coach [Nick Sirianni] coming up here saying, ‘He’s still in protocol,’ and now he’s saying, ‘He’s not in protocol anymore,’ so I don’t think there’s anything else to talk about with that.
I’m thankful that the refs, and everyone, did what they were supposed to do in that time. They made the right decision in that moment, and I’m thankful and blessed for that.
Now, I’m ready to go, and I think we move forward to the Green Bay Packers.”
The Eagles’ QB then went on to talk about how they are a very different team than when they played the Packers in Brazil earlier in the season. He noted that their run game has evolved, and Saquon Barkley has emerged, but acknowledged they’ll have a challenge against Green Bay.
