UFC announced on Friday that Jamahal Hill will fight Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas.
The 32-year-old Hill just challenged light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for his belt at UFC 300 last Saturday but fell in a first-round knockout. The 34-year-old Rountree is coming off a third-round TKO win over Anthony Smith last December, marking his fifth straight victory.
Hill is 12-2 lifetime with one no-contest. He previously won the vacant light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira in Jan. 2023 but relinquished the belt that summer after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon during a pickup basketball game. The UFC 300 fight marked his return to the Octagon after a 15-month absence.
Rountree previously announced in December 2019 that he intended to retire from the sport after his next fight, but he changed course and has actually been on fire of late. He’s No. 8 in the latest light heavyweight rankings, with Hill sitting third. Rountree is 13-5 lifetime (one no-contest).
