Another college football season is over, as a national champion for the 2023 campaign has been crowned. On Monday night, Michigan defeated Washington to capture its first title since 1997.
Now, the calendar rolls on. The next important college football date on the schedule? National signing day on Feb. 7.
Because of the implementation of the early signing period in December, the traditional national signing day isn’t as eventful as it was at one time. Many top recruits have already sent in their national letters of intent to college programs. But some remain unsigned.
With the traditional national signing day less than a month away, here are some predictions regarding several of the top recruits in the 2024 class who have not yet signed.
Williams Will Stick with Commitment to Alabama

Since Oct. 8, 2022, Ryan Williams has been committed to Alabama. That didn’t change when the 5-star wide receiver from Saraland, Ala., reclassified from the 2025 class to 2024. However, he remains unsigned after not sending in an NLI during the December period, opting instead to wait and sign closer to his birthday on Feb. 9.
Could Williams still flip his commitment? It’s possible, as he’ll be taking visits to Texas (Jan. 27) and Auburn (Feb. 3) following his next visit to Alabama (Jan. 20). But it still sounds like he’s leaning toward joining the Crimson Tide, as he recently told The Athletic it would “definitely take a lot” for him to flip.
“They’ve been very understanding of my entire process,” Williams said, per Manny Navarro and Grace Raynor of The Athletic. “They were the first to recruit me and they’ve never come off of that.”
Alabama should hold onto Williams, who is the No. 12 overall recruit in the 2024 class per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Expect him to head to Tuscaloosa to begin his college career.
Another Commit Flips from Texas A&M to LSU?

Four recruits have flipped from Texas A&M to LSU during the 2024 cycle. And it could happen again soon with a 5-star athlete.
Terry Bussey, the No. 19 recruit in the 2024 class out of Timpson, Texas, has been committed to the Aggies since Sept. 28. However, that was before Texas A&M fired head coach Jimbo Fisher and replaced him with Mike Elko. Bussey is taking visits to other schools in January, with Alabama, Georgia and LSU in the mix, per On3 Sports.
Shea Dixon of On3 Sports believes Bussey is “a guy who wants to be at A&M, but doesn’t see it as a fit there.” He could fit well at LSU, which could utilize him in the defensive secondary at any position.
It’s possible Bussey doesn’t waver and signs with Texas A&M. But the prediction here is that he flips to LSU, giving the Tigers another former Aggies commit in their 2024 class.
Michigan Will Land Another Talented 4-Star WR

Michigan has signed 14 4-star recruits in its 2024 class, a group that includes wide receiver Channing Goodwin out of Charlotte, N.C. By the time national signing day is over, the Wolverines may have another 4-star playmaker on his way to Ann Arbor.
One of the top unsigned 2024 recruits is 4-star receiver Gatlin Bair, the No. 43 overall player in the class who is from Burley, Idaho. He was once committed to Boise State, but he decommitted and is now deciding between Michigan and Oregon. However, he hasn’t yet committed to either the Wolverines or the Ducks.
Both Michigan and Oregon had strong seasons and are expected to be contenders in the Big Ten during the 2024 campaign. Either program could land Bair next month.
But Bair should choose the Wolverines, who have a ton of momentum under head coach Jim Harbaugh and have appeared in the College Football Playoff in three consecutive years. Bair will be a nice addition to a solid 2024 class for Michigan.
