NBA fans thought they heard a familiar voice on the Los Angeles Lakers bench during the team’s 87-86 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night in the NBA Summer League.
ESPN had Bronny James mic’d up for its broadcast and you’d be forgiven if you thought you were listening to his dad, LeBron James, if you didn’t see the face attached to the voice.

Fans commented on the striking similarities between the two:

Sounds just like his pops @BronnyJamesJr @KingJames

He’s literally mini LeBron 😭 hope his game gets there too that way haters can suffer 20 more years of witnessing James greatness
Bronny had his strongest Summer League showing so far against Atlanta. He shot 5-of-11 from the field for 12 points, adding one rebound and one steal.
“I feel like I know the right way to play,” the rookie guard said after the game. “So if I go out there and play my game every game, results like that will come.”
Leading up to the 2024 NBA draft, it was impossible not to compare LeBron and Bronny given their familial connection, and there’s some overlap between the two in terms of their skill set. Bronny seems to have inherited his dad’s vision on the floor and has the potential be a solid playmaker.
Nobody is expecting the 19-year-old to fully emulate LeBron, though, because those are impossible shoes to fill. It’s unrealistic to put that kind of burden on any rookie, no matter how much they’re hyped.
It sounds like Bronny can at least deliver a pretty spot-on impression of his dad, and that might lead to some funny interactions inside the Lakers locker room.
