Nightingale: What is Coming in Realms Rebuilt?
Nightingale is ready to get an update with the Realms Rebuilt update that will add a myriad of new features to the survival game released earlier this year.
In this article, therefore, we will provide you with all the information necessary to be able to take part again (or for the first time) in the Nightingale universe. The Nightingale Realms Rebuilt will offer new content both for old players and for all those who decide to start this adventure thanks to the release of this substantial update.
Nightingale Realms Rebuilt New Features
The developers have announced, with two posts on the official blog of the game, that this update (which will be available later this summer) has the task of introducing new features, some of which have been loudly requested by players, but also of further expanding the story and lore of Nightingale. Consequently, we can say that there is a lot of meat to cook and that therefore it is necessary to proceed step by step to indicate all the new features present.
Progression Tree
Players will notice a new way of unlocking recipes and progressing in the game. Before, players unlocked recipes by completing quests or buying them from Traders. Now, there’s a new Progression system. Instead of relying on Traders, you will have a “Progression” tab in your Guidebook. This lets you unlock new tools and gear as you gain Essence, which is still used as a currency. Tier 1 Essence unlocks Tier 1 items, Tier 2 Essence unlocks Tier 2 items, and so on.
However, you can no longer get Essence from basic resources like plant fiber, rocks, and sticks. Instead, you will earn it by completing quests, challenges, and exploring points of interest. This reduces the grind and makes the game more engaging. Also, Augmentations have changed. They’re no longer needed to craft specific items. Instead, you can attach them to crafting benches for different buffs, and there are now fewer Augmentations in the game.
Structure Limit
Many players have been asking us to increase the structure limits, and now it’s finally happening with the Realms Rebuilt update. The team is simplifying the system to have just two limits instead of three. The first limit is on how many individual pieces you can use in a structure. The second limit is a Realm-wide weight limit that includes both building pieces and freestanding structures like workbenches. If you’re getting close to the limit, a UI indicator will appear, and you can also choose to display this info all the time.
Realms Reset
With this update bringing many new features like the Progression Tree, new maps, and more, the team decided to reset player character progression. This means you will have to start with a new character. This reset is necessary to let everyone fully enjoy all the new content. For those who want to keep their current Estates, you can save your current Respite Realms and use them in Offline Mode. However, these saved Realms won’t get future updates.
Handcrafted Realms
Storied Realms are specially crafted worlds within the existing game environments, each with its own theme, look, and challenges. These Realms will be part of a new campaign coming in the next update. As you move through the main questline, you will unlock unique Realm Cards, each leading to a new Storied Realm to explore.
Your adventure in the Storied Realms starts in your new Abeyance Realm. Every player now begins in a Forest Abeyance, where you will find The Crossways, a collection of ancient portals that serve as your gateway to the Storied Realms. These realms will become the main areas for your quests, but procedurally-generated Realms still play an important role. You will use Realm cards to open Portals and explore these areas for new challenges, rare resources, and valuable essences.
New Campaign
Storied Realms are a key part of the new campaign in Nightingale Realms Rebuilt. Puck is back, now voiced by Marc Warren, and will guide Realmwalkers through these handcrafted Realms. You will face new quests and challenges while meeting familiar characters from Nightingale’s world.
The main story remains the same: Earth has fallen, the Portal network collapsed, and humanity is searching for Nightingale. However, the player’s journey has been rebuilt. As a Realmwalker, you will reawaken ancient portals, uncover buried secrets, and reclaim lost wonders. This new adventure takes you to unexplored Realms like the corrupted woods of Sylvan’s Cradle and the gravity-torn desert of Welkin’s Reach, and more.
And More
The new structured approach to the main campaign lets the developers add exciting finales to key story moments. They have introduced new Sites of Power, which are challenging dungeons that test your combat skills and puzzle-solving abilities. These replace the old Sites of Power and are now set in new environments with different content. Each dungeon ends with a unique boss battle against powerful creatures with special abilities, set in distinct locations.
They have also added more Points of Interest (POIs) with new challenges. Furthermore, players will have the chance to use new weapons and magics to overcome the challenges that they will have to face in this new update.
