Rangers add righty Houser on Minors deal with invite to camp (source)

The Rangers agreed with free-agent right-hander Adrian Houser on a Minor League contract with an invite to Spring Training, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand on Saturday. The team has not confirmed a deal.

Houser, 31, was acquired by the Mets from the Brewers last winter in a deal that also brought Tyrone Taylor to New York. The veteran righty struggled as a starter, going 0-4 with an 8.55 ERA in seven starts. But he was much more effective out of the bullpen, logging a 3.28 ERA in 34 2/3 innings spread across 16 games.

Houser, a second-round pick by Houston in the 2011 Draft, is 32-39 with a 4.21 ERA in 152 games for Milwaukee and the Mets, including 104 starts.
