Saints announce several roster moves prior to matchup with Panthers
The New Orleans Saints announced several roster moves ahead of their Week 9 matchup with the Carolina Panthers. They placed RB Kendre Miller (hamstring) and WR Bub Means (high ankle sprain) on IR, signed RB Jordan Mims, CB Shemar Jean-Charles, and S Millard Bradford to the active roster off the practice squad, and waived OL Kyle Hergel.
Recently signed CB Tre Herndon and S Roderic Teamer have been called up from the practice squad for Sunday’s game in Charlotte, given that starting CBs Marshon Lattimore and Kool-Aid McKinstry have both been ruled out with hamstring injuries. Combined with backup corner and special teams standout Rico Payton’s questionable status as he fights through a back issue, Herndon and Teamer could have their hands full in their debuts for the black and gold.
Additionally, RB Jamaal Williams has been ruled out with a groin injury. So, anticipate a hefty dose of Taysom Hill alongside Alvin Kamara against the Panthers’ 32nd-ranked total defense.
As for Miller, I’ve seen people asking if this signals the end of his 2024 season. No, it does not, though we’ll have to wait a minimum of four games before we see the young running back in action again. According to league rules, Miller can be activated from injured reserve one more time this season.
Overall, it’s a frustrating situation for both parties, especially since Miller was finally starting to rebuild his confidence after looking explosive each time the ball was in his hands. A talented young player just can’t seem to escape the injury bug.
