The ‘ALCS MVP’ quiz
The American League Championship Series begins tonight in the Bronx, as the New York Yankees take on the Cleveland Guardians for a spot in the World Series. The Yankees took care of the Kansas City Royals in four games, while the Guardians beat the Tigers and presumptive Cy Young winner in Tarik Skubal in Game 5 on Saturday afternoon. Both recent and more distant history is on the Yankees side, with New York going 4-2 against Cleveland in the regular season and holding a 15-12 edge all-time in six playoff meetings. But all of the pressure is on New York, which is looking to get back to its first World Series since 2009, falling short in five-straight ALCS appearances.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Since the ALCS MVP was first awarded in 1980, just two players have won the award and been on the losing team, so it’s a safe bet that whichever team has the MVP will be marching on. With that being said, how many ALCS MVPs can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
