The Minnesota Vikings waltz into the 2025 NFL Draft in 16 days, and slightly over two weeks out, the club made a few headlines on Monday. Vikings Start the Week with 3 Buzzworthy Items General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has four picks to spend in the draft, though that number could grow if he trades back from his No. 24 spot. So, the next two weeks are all about draft planning and roster clean-up. Here’s what happened on Monday in the meantime. Vikings Host Shavon Revel Jr. (CB) for Draft Visit Minnesota has conducted (or will host) several Top 30 visits, but Shavon Revel Jr. stood off the page Monday because he can reasonably be drafted by Adofo-Mensah, even with a trade down the board. Revel Jr.’s stock is somewhat low, at least per Round 1 standards, due to a torn ACL recovery. If it weren’t for the bad knee, he’d probably have Round 1 stock, not unlike fellow small-school cornerback, Quinyon Mitchell, in the 2024 NFL Draft. Bleacher Report‘s scouting department explains Revel Jr.’s draft profile: “Shavon Revel is a tall, long-limbed cornerback prospect from East Carolina who stands out due to his physical traits and aggressive style of play. At 6’3″ and 193 pounds, Revel possesses the length and frame that NFL teams covet, particularly for outside corners.” “His blend of size, speed, and physicality has made him one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2025 draft class, with the potential to impact both man and zone-heavy schemes.” His pro comparison? Tariq Woolen of the Seattle Seahawks. “His length, speed, and physicality are ideal traits for defending big-bodied receivers on the outside and handling vertical routes. While his ball skills and eye discipline could limit his ability to generate turnovers, Revel’s ability to blanket receivers and disrupt plays at the line makes him a valuable asset. With further refinement, he has the ceiling to develop into a high-level starting cornerback at the next level,” BR added. Mandatory Credit: Morgan Tencza-Imagn Images But on Monday, FOX Sports announced that cornerback Shaquill Griffin will meet with the Seahawks this week, the team that drafted him eight years ago. Seattle also drafted Griffin’s brother, Shaquem, the following year. Vikings fans held out hope that Griffin could be a summer free-agent option if turmoil beset the CB room — like last year — but it appears that Griffin has suitors, and he could be a Seahawk in no time. Minnesota will have to utilize its current CB depth: Byron Murphy Jr., Isaiah Rodgers, Mekhi Blackmon, Jeff Okudah, and Dwight McGlothern. The Vikings could also give Gilmore a call, if needed, but he hinted at retirement earlier in the offseason. Vikings Drop CB Nahshon Wright Remember the Andrew Booth trade last summer? The guy who came through the door from that swap is no longer a Viking. Minnesota dropped cornerback Nahshon Wright on Monday, and Wright can explore his career’s next chapter as early as now. Wright played zero regular snaps last season for Dallas and Minnesota. What’s Next? Some believe Minnesota released Wright to clear a roster spot for cornerback Jack Jones. The Las Vegas Raiders dropped Jones last weekend, and he will have a decent free-agent market. Interestingly, the Vikings expressed interest in Jones during the 2023 season when the New England Patriots released him. If signed by the Vikings, Jones won’t screw up the team’s 2026 compensatory draft pick formula, which could include three extra picks at this time next year. Jones is 27 and was a 4th-Round pick in 2022.
